About Nikia Elliott
I’m Nikia Elliott, and I’m running for Bedford County Sheriff because I love this community and believe in protecting the families who call it home.
Born and raised in Bedford County, I’ve dedicated 25 years to the Sheriff’s Office, rising from Reserve Deputy to Chief Deputy supervising over 120 staff members. Following in my father’s footsteps, Dale Elliott—a Vietnam veteran and former Chief Deputy— law enforcement is my family’s legacy of service.
My wife Julie and I have been married 22 years and are raising two sons here in our wonderful community. As a father of a son with autism, I understand the importance of compassionate and professional law enforcement response for all community members.
I’m a conservative Republican who attends Normandy Baptist Church and believes in Christian values and constitutional principles. Under my leadership at the Sheriff’s Office we’ve achieved Tennessee Tier 1 Accreditation, implemented successful rehabilitation programs with a very low 4% recidivism rate, and placed School Resource Officers in every Bedford County school.
Together, we’ll create safer communities through proven leadership and common-sense solutions.

As your next Sheriff, I will continue the great work for our current Sheriff Austin Swing, by improving how we approach public safety in Bedford County. My proven three-pronged strategy will combat the drug crisis through early intervention in schools, aggressive enforcement targeting suppliers, and successful rehabilitation programs that have achieved a remarkable 4% recidivism rate. True community policing will put our deputies back in neighborhoods, building trust and preventing crime before it happens through zone-based patrol assignments and regular community meetings. Specialized programs will protect our most vulnerable citizens, including comprehensive support for families with missing children on the autism spectrum.
